Hitting the beach without water shoes is like going out to a ski hill without proper snow gear. It’s just not right. Water shoes are designed to let the water drain away, so your feet will dry more quickly once you get out of the water.

Instead, go for lightweight water shoes designed for the environment instead of trying to use old tennis shoes.

Forget your old ideas of water shoes. Water shoes today come in a variety of styles and can complement any outfit you’re wearing. Some water shoes today look just like athletic shoes, and often offer almost the same performance, so nobody will be able to tell. You’ll be able to jump out of the water and go back to your regular activities without missing a beat – and even wear them all day if you want.

 

Support

While basic slip-on water shoes provide traction, more advanced water shoes provide support as well. While slip-on shoes will be fine for underwater use and on the beach, lace-up models will give you added ankle support if you’re thinking of doing some trekking.

 

Booties and lace-up water shoes will save you from a twisted ankle when you’re hiking along streams or wet trails, but they’ll still give you good traction on any wet surfaces as well, and will feel comfortable while swimming, making them the perfect all-terrain shoe.

 

Water shoes are a must-have for any beach trip. If you love spending time on the beach, but don’t want to lose your feet to the water, you should invest in a pair of water shoes.
